My Raro Experience (By Imogen)

I went to Raratonga earlier on this term. One Saturday, we went to the market day since I had lots of money.  I bought a flower with a clip on it.  It was the most fasinating thing in my life. I also looked far and wide for a coconut shell which was a purse I really liked.  I mean I loved it!!!  At the airport I got a neaklace with flowers on it and in my head I thought my trip has just begun....... 

Reading does really ROCK!!!

"Reading Rocks!"

Adrian Kirk from Christchurch came to our school and spoke to us about the importance of reading.    He combined his awesome skills as a juggler, unicyclist and comedian with a lively, engaging and hilarious discussion about some of his favourite books.   Adrian spoke about using one's imagination while reading fictional texts.  He also told us about a book on 'juggling.'  Adrian used this information to learn how to juggle, balance balls on his chin, and how to ride a crazy bike (also known as a unicycle) while carrying a small child on his shoulders...thanks Mathew!   The children were buzzing after his presentation and would all agree that..........

Whanau Challenge - Term 3

Our concept for this term is 'Challenge.'  The key questions are:  What challenges me?  What challenges others?  How could I respond to a challenge?  How do these challenges help me to learn and grow?  The two enduring understanding statements include:  1.  We learn and grow by facing challenges with courage, persistence and resilience; 2.  The sacraments give us the spiritual nourishment to face challenges.  As an immersion activity, Kauri whanau completed a series of challenging activities, these included:  hockey skills, leap frog lily pad, trust games, and a blindfold activity.  The children were placed into different groups and enjoyed helping each other in a challenging and fun environment.  Tino pai nga tamariki and kaiako!

Diamante Poems

A 'diamante poem' is a poem in a shape of a diamond.  Each line uses specific types of words, like adjectives and -ing words.  It does not have to rhyme.
Structure:
1. Beginning Topic
2. Adjective, adjective (about the topic)
3. -ing word, -ing word (about the topic)
4.  Four nouns - or - a short phrase (about the beginning and ending topics)
5.  -ing word, -ing word (about the topic)
6.  Adjective, adjective (about the topic)
7.  Ending Topic

Future 'NZ Turbo Touch' Players

The whistle went the ball droped on the ground. It's tap and pass. People shouting, ''Please pass the ball."

It's spitting, but were still trying.  Finally, the yellow team got a try!!  Room 15 LOVES turbo touch!!!  We would like to play again.

Yay, we're on the field still trying to get a try. Yellow team try to block because the blue team have the ball. Finally, the yellow team get the ball. We are racing off to get a try!
