Our 'Dairy Farm' Visit

Yesterday, Thursday 23rd of September, we visited a farm in Riponui.  Brad and the team of workers showed us around their 310 hectare farm where they milk 900 cows.  The children and parents/caregivers all enjoyed the experience.  The highlight of the day was witnessing a cow calve.  The children also experienced feeding calves, watching a cow being milked (and pooing), feeding out, riding on the back of a trailer, smelling silage and maize, and playing in the mud.  A special thanks to the Robert's family for the day.  Enjoy the photos.

'Keep Germs Away'

Last term the children designed posters to highlight the need to keep ourselves clean.  Lots of children were getting the flu so they decided to think of ways to promote cleanliness at school and at home.  The children enjoyed transferring their ideas into 'Printshop.'  Here are just a few posters-enjoy!

Mellow Yellow's Adventure

Room 11's ambassador 'Mellow Yellow' recently went on a virtual farm field trip to the Waikato.  She is 5 years old and produces huge amounts of milk.  The following photos are a small sample of her trip.  The other animals are ambassadors from other schools around New Zealand.  Mellow Yellow represented St Francis Xavier Catholic School with pride.  Tino Pai!  Go GIRL!!!
