Last week, the children learned about ways to stay safe when swimming in the ocean. Northland is surrounded by water, so it was important for them to understand the risks and dangers involved when swimming. The children talked about ways they can enjoy the water, but also identified practical ways to stay safe-especially if one gets caught in a rip. Some children also made connections with some of the 'survival skills' that they were taught by the Swim NZ instructors at school, last year. Thanks to those amazing volunteers from Surf Lifesaving New Zealand that help make our beaches a safe place to visit with our whanau and friends.
