Shweta loves to dance!

It was amazing!  I went to Hukerenui for a dance competition.  They had a little stall with different kinds of foods.  After that I waited for my turn.  After a few dances, it was time.  I went on stage and I was so nervous but I was still ready.  Then the music suddenly started.  I began dancing.  Uhh...that was a close one, even though it is one of the smallest dances out of the Scottish Dancing School.  I had an exciting time competing.  By Shweta

Superbikes of the Future

John Britten was born in Christchurch in 1950.  He was world famous for designing and building the Britten V1000.  This motorcycle was built in his garage using only basic tools and resources.  It was an amazing machine that at that time beat the best racing bikes from Italy and Japan.  His story was a true fairytale, and shows that one with a passion for innovation and for taking risks can achieve their goals.  Following on from his amazing story, the children used their imagination (Green Hat) to design their own 'future motorcycle.'   Below are some examples of their work.

1.  Cut 100% cotton into 40cm x 40cm squares.
2.   Sprinkle evenly and lightly with grated beeswax.
3.  Melt beeswax in oven only for a few minutes and spread evenly with a brush.
4.  Hang to dry and begin using to wrap lunches in.

My Horse Riding Experience

I love horse riding, especially when we race around the arena.  I enjoy horses because they teach me about taking care of something.  At horse riding I throw bean bags at the target, find our letters of our horses names and we also get to ride on the horse backwards, which is really fun.  Being able to ride and look after a horse is important to me.  (By Kade)
