Last Friday, we celebrated the many different cultures that are part of our school whanau and wider community. We gathered in our whanau groups and went on a parade celebrating who we are...our culture, our story! Some children and parents performed their cultural dance, and some even showed us their musical talents. What an amazing experience...WOW! Special thanks to those parents/caregivers and children who helped make the afternoon one to remember.
Tena koutou. Nau mai, Haere mai, Welcome to Room 23 Scholar's blog. Our learning coach's name is Mr Werder. He is an avid Taranaki and Hurricanes rugby supporter, and a passionate supporter of the Warriors and Queensland State of Origin rugby league teams. We have 24 amazing scholars in our Year 3/4 classroom.
The concepts we will be studying this year will include: ‘Turangawaewae' (Term 1, Health - Relationships with others; Social Sciences - Place & Environment); Term 2, ''Taonga’ (Visual Arts; Social Sciences). Term 3, 'Heroes and Heroines' (Social Sciences); and ''Celebration'' (Term 4, Social Sciences). The school wide focus for 2016 is Religious Education. This will be in conjunction with building on our current knowledge and learning from last year in the curriculum areas of Mathematics and Te Reo Maori. The writing focus in 2017 will be 'narrative' where we will examine its structure and language features in-detail.
We look forward to showing you our blog page, as well as 'seesaw' some of the wonderful work we are doing. God bless, and please write positive comments about our work. Kia ora tatou!
